I was born and raised in Derry, Northern Ireland. My Great Grandfather Johnny Graham, was a renowned traditional Irish Fiddler. I’d like to think I might have gotten some of his touch in my own fingers. There was a small wooden guitar around the house with strings missing. I don’t remember playing it, I just remember it being there.
I was raised on my Fathers record collection. I first noticed the guitar on a 7″ record of “Layla” by Derek and The Dominos, the sound was pure magic. Later on I heard Angus Young play to the crowd with his right arm raised in the air & I made my mind up. That was another push in a long consecutive line of little pushes leading me in the direction of the guitar. The last push I required was returning home one day feeling sorry for myself, I went to my room and there it was gathering dust in the corner. I can still see it, my neglected friend. By now I had received a Candy Apple Red Stratocaster for Christmas. I reached for the guitar and I never left it down again.
I now live in New York City in the East Village. I have had the honor of playing & sharing the stage with some of the best musicians in the world.
I am currently working on my own album.
Thank you for being a witness.
